About
Rodrigo Paiva
Executive Product Director · Education · Lisbon & Brazil
I'm mapping a territory that doesn't yet have a name in the Portuguese-speaking world: the intersection of andragogy, artificial intelligence, and adult training at scale, from the corporate university to the medical school.
I've been building educational products for adults for 20+ years. I led products and initiatives at Ibmec, Wide, Grupo Enfase, and Afya Educacional — projects that, together, have impacted more than 1 million people in training. Today I'm Executive Director of National Product at Grupo São Leopoldo Mandic, a reference institution in health education operating between Brazil and Portugal.
What makes the angle unique
Operator, not consultant. Daily practice inside real institutions, today in higher education and before that in corporate universities, exam-prep schools and executive education. I know MEC, ENAMED, Portugal's DGERT and what an external assessment does to a course from the inside.
Brazil and Portugal, every day. I live in Lisbon and run products for the Brazilian market. I experience both Portuguese-speaking training systems simultaneously.
AI in practice, not in discourse. I build AI agents applied to adult learning while operating real EdTech products.
Why Andragotech
In 2026 I started Andragotech: an independent publication on andragogy applied to adult learning in the AI era, with real cases from professional, corporate and higher education.
The premise is simple: andragogy (the science of adult learning) is the right framework for discussing how adults learn, decide, and update their competencies in a moment when AI has changed the rules. In Portuguese, with real institutional depth, no one was occupying that territory.
Healthcare is the laboratory, not the fence. Most cases come from training physicians and dentists because that is where the cost of teaching badly shows up first, with a name attached. But every piece ends with what transfers to any adult training: the corporate university, the MBA, the civil-service exam, the professional certification in Portugal. I spent twenty years in those other laboratories before reaching medicine.
